Who here has made a new year’s resolution? I know I have. And from that day forward your behavior is forever changed right? Unfortunately, God didn’t design us like that. For some reason we expect behaviors to change instantaneously. As Christians we are called to rid the sin from our lives and pursue Christ. Like many others I found myself attempting to “stop sinning” and every attempt ultimately failed. I felt like God gave me an unattainable goal. I knew that as a Christian I lived under grace and Jesus would forgive me of my sin. But still I felt like sin had conquered me. But then I learned some of the most valuable information I’ve ever heard. Ultimately to “put off” you need “put on”. For example, for a long time I struggled with disrespecting my parents. To fight that sin I needed to not only stop sinning, but I needed encourage my parents and maybe even do something nice for them. In order to fight sin, we need to be proactive not reactive. We need to immerse ourselves in the love of God on a daily basis and seek to improve where we see failure. So, I’m challenging all of you to -sin and + the pursuit of Godliness. I call upon you brothers and sisters let us not have our walk with Christ be a failed new year’s resolution. But let us be proactive in our fight with sin.
