"TeenPact taught me how to ardently engage the culture, while also fixing pilgrim-eyes on my eternal home in heaven. It’s a believer’s perpetual struggle, but Christians do well to rest in this tension of the already/not-yet kingdom. Our Christ has won the ultimate war over evil, but we are still fighting the battle for good. Just like the Israelites in exile, we are called to work for the welfare of the land where we dwell. We must engage. Withdraw, surrender, or cynicism are not Gospel options."
Raised in Wisconsin, Melika McKinnis now hails from our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. Her TeenPact story began when she and her family heard about TeenPact while competing at a NCFCA Speech and Debate Championship. Seeing the TeenPact community welcome eagerness and model loving each other with fierce gospel-love stoked her passion for life. Recently married to a fellow TeenPact, Melika shared in her own words, “I'm forever grateful that TeenPact brought a big-hearted, blue-eyed man named Seth McKinnis out of the Alaskan wilds and into the heart of Texas where we met at the inaugural TeenPact staff training.” Melika is passionate about loving vulnerable lives – pregnant mothers in crisis, the unborn, the abandoned, and the orphaned. Each finds belonging and wholeness in Christ and she is excited to be part of the body of Christ that gets to share actions of care and messages of love.
